How Do I Redeem Xbox Gift Cards and Codes?

Xbox gift cards and digital codes must be redeemed through Xbox or Microsoft services—not on GameStop. 

 Important: Always make sure you’re signed in to the correct Microsoft account before redeeming. 
Once a code is redeemed on an account, it cannot be transferred by Xbox Support or GameStop.

 Before You Start (Avoid Common Issues) 

  • Xbox codes are 25 characters, formatted in 5 blocks of 5 characters 
  • Codes include numbers and letters 
  • Redemption will fail if:  
    • Your Microsoft account has an outstanding balance 
    • Your payment option on file is no longer valid

  1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide 
  2. Select Store 
  3. Press the View button to open the side menu 
  4. Select Redeem 
  5. Enter the 25character code 
  6. Select Next and follow the prompts

  1. Press the Start button 
  2. Search for and open the Xbox app 
  3. Select your gamer pic 
  4. Choose Settings 
  5. Select Redeem under Redeem a code 
  6. Enter the 25character code 
  7. Select Next and follow the prompts

  1. Press the Guide button on your controller 
  2. Select Games & Apps 
  3. Choose Redeem Code 
  4. Enter the 25character code 
  5. Follow the prompts to complete redemption

When You Don’t Need to Contact GameStop 

You usually don’t need GameStop support if: 

  • The code was redeemed successfully on Xbox 
  • The credit or content appears in your Microsoft account 
  • The code was redeemed on the wrong Microsoft account 
  • Xbox reports an account or payment issue 

GameStop cannot move, reverse, or re-issue Xbox codes once redeemed.

⏱️ When Should I Contact Support? 

Contact Xbox / Microsoft Support (not GameStop) if: 

  • The code shows an Xbox-specific error 
  • Your Microsoft account has an issue blocking redemption 
  • You need help confirming whether a code was already redeemed 

Contact GameStop only if: 

  • The code was never delivered 
  • The code is missing from your order email or order history
